The Floaterhoist™ bike hoist was invented by Andrew Mountain while he was completing his machinist apprenticeship. An avid bicyclist with one-too-many bikes to store in his small living space, Andrew drew on his experience using cranes and hoists in an industrial setting, to come up with a never-seen-before solution to bicycle storage on the ceiling. More than 50 prototypes were built, each new prototype a little better than the last.
To help bring the product to market, Andrew enlisted the help of award winning industrial designer Kevin Kimberley in Hong Kong. It was Kevin’s job to transform the wood and steel prototype designs into their final manufactured form. The result is a modern and robust product that is worthy to store even the most expensive bikes.
